Research:
- Iceburg Theory:
Many people don’t mind hurting others with their words without even realizing it. However, Freud proposed a theory suggesting that the 'unconscious' has a greater influence on human behavior than consciousness. It involves an individual's unconscious psychological activity and processes. Therefore, people need to avoid unconsciously using words to hurt others.
- “Bullied plants” Experiment:
While speaking is a common part of life, the impact of words can be significant. In an IKEA experiment, two plants were placed in the same environment. One faced daily verbal attacks, while the other received daily praise. After 30 days, the criticized plant withered, while the praised one thrived. This shows that positive speech and non-positive speech affect individuals differently.
